Life Forms and Extreme 3D

Life Forms effortlessly creates animation for use in other 3D graphics solutions. From the simple walk generator, to high powered editing of keyframed and motion capture based animations, Life Forms out-moves all other character animation tools.

Life Forms empowers you with an innovative tool to create 3D human and character motion to complement Extreme 3D and other 3D programs.

Life Forms imports Macromedia Extreme 3D models in VRML 1.0 or Swivel 3D (mac only) file formats. You can export the animation from Life Forms to Extreme 3D as a tracks file.

To quickly produce animation for Extreme 3D, try using the Bridger model included in Life Forms.

Guidelines for creating models for export to Life Forms

Models built to the following guidelines are animated more easily by Life Forms.

  • Body parts must be linked
  • Centerpoints must be positioned at the pivot points of each body part
  • Models must be scaled correctly in Extreme 3D
  • Test the model often in Life Forms to ensure it works properly
  • If you import a very large or very small model, adjust the scaling in Extreme 3D and import the scene again. Do not adjust the figure height in Life Forms
  • All the figures you want to include in an animation must be imported from a single Extreme 3D file
  • To copy an animation from the Life Forms default model to a model created in Extreme 3D, the default body angle of the imported model must be set to zero
  • The closer the proportions the imported model are to the Life Forms default model, the better animations will copy

Extreme 3D plugin - Macintosh

Models are imported from Extreme3D into Life Forms 2.1 using the Swivel3D format. In Life Forms 2.1, models can be imported from Extreme3D using the Life Forms VRML plugin. Animations are exported using Extreme3D TRAX with a keyframes only option. The Extreme3D plugin is included with Life Forms 2.0.5 and later releases.

VRML 1 and 2 plugin Macintosh - Windows

Life Forms 2.1 now supports both import and export of VRML 1.0. and export of VRML 2.0 with animation data for 3D presentation on the web!! The VRML plug-ins were last updated October 3. These plug-ins have fixed the missing comma problem in the position interpolator field. Visit our VRML page for more VRML information.
